The Cutthroats 9 also have a new EP on Reptilian called "Anger Management" that is also worth looking into, but by all means see them live. If you don't know what to expect, you will be made a believer, and if you're a skeptical Unsane fan, your faith shall be restored/5(4).

The other Cutthroats 9 full length was posted a few months back, and I believe I made my opinions clear then as to which band was superior, Cutthroats 9 or Unsane (here's a hint, it was Cutthroats 9). But with that recent JJ Paradise Players Club post, I started thinking about these guys again (Dave Curran is in both bands) and thought we should get this record up here post haste.

CUT-THROATS NINE () Blu-ray Director: Joaquín Luis Romero Marchent Code Red DVD. A Spanish-made western which no doubt had a big influence on Quentin Tarantino’s recent THE HATEFUL EIGHT, the tagline for CUT-THROATS NINE reads, “Violence is their way of life” and that's certainly appropriate for what happens within this unruly, semi-gothic export.

The Cutthroats 9 were formed by Chris Spencer of Unsane in during a hiatus. Their self titled EP was released that same year with the subsequent release Anger Management, which took loosely from Unsane’s sound, while adding a somewhat bluesy vibe mainly due to the slide guitar’s rostpropexaremanbrigyswitesurus.xyzinfo: The Sludgelord.

Like Unsane's early years with drummer Charlie Ondras, Cutthroats 9 privileges a rhythmic openness not apparent on Unsane's material with Vinny Signorelli behind the kit. Such breathing space allows Spencer's stomp-box distorted Fender adequate time and context to screech and moan with a grimy, roughed-up twang.
